Hilltop First School and Foundation Stage

Parents in School

We value the links between parents and carers and school and have a number of occasions across each term were we welcome them into school.

Key Stage 1 Phonics / Grammar Fun - Fridays at 8:50

Parents and carers of pupils in Team Enchantment (Key Stage 1) are welcome to join in a weekly practical Phonics session each Monday morning after drop off.  Elements of Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation are also practised during these sessions.  They have proven to be very useful in helping parents to see first hand how they can help to support their children's learning in these areas whilst having fun.

Foundation Stage Song and Rhyme - Wednesdays at 8:50

All family members are welcome to join pupils in Team Woodland (Early Years Foundation Stage) immediately after drop off on a Wednesday morning for a session of songs and rhymes.  Adults are encouraged to sing along with the children.

Grown Ups in Golden Time

Once each term, the parents and carers in each Key Stage are invited to join their children during Friday afternoon Golden Time.  This is a chance for adults and children to interact and share the variety of games and activities in the classroom.  Whilst playing in Golden Time, children are developing key social and language skills through playing with their peers.  Games and activities are chosen to encourage creative problem solving, imagination, turn taking and cooperation.

Please check the school calendar for dates for each team.

Parent Volunteers

We welcome parents and carers to join or team of adult volunteers who come into school regularly to support children's learning through a range of activities including listening to children read and playing games to practise turn taking, maths skills or phonics knowledge.  All volunteers hold up to date DBS checks.  Parents and carers who are interested in being involved in this way should contact the school office to obtain an application form.
