Head Girl, Head Boy and Deputies
These roles are decided by the staff with some input from the older pupils. Heads and Deputies have a number of responsibilities across the school. One of their key roles is publicizing our charity days and helping with the collection of donations from our families.
The school council is made up of pupils from Years 1 to 4. At the beginning of the year pupils are elected by their classmates to represent the class on the school council. Hilltop Heads and Deputies run our private ballot each year. This gives the children a first hand experience of democracy. The school council meets regularly with Ms Bima to talk about how everyone can work together to make the school a better place for learning and fun. School councillors are role models and wear their badges with pride.
In the Autumn term they asked Ms Bima if they could organise a teddy bears' picnic and a movie event. It was decided that it would be a good idea to link it to our Children in Need Pudsey Day celebrations.
Where Year 4 pupils have received overwhelming recognition as positive role models from their peers they may be appointed as Mentors. They support some of our younger pupils especially during lunch playtimes and moving between classrooms and the hall for assembly.
Each year two Year 4 pupils are appointed as ‘Office Assistants’ to help our busy admin staff with class messages or letters each afternoon.
Sports Leaders are Year 4 children who have been selected to support Mrs Glaves in promoting sport and physical activity across the school.
School Librarians are appointed from Year 3 and Year 4. They are responsible for keeping the school library looking neat and tidy. They help to promote reading throughout the school and play a big part in the running of our annual Book Fairs. All pupils in Years 1 and 2 are offered the opportunity to be a class librarian for a set period of time. They are responsible for looking after the class library and helping during class visits to the main school library over a two week period. They also get to wear a librarian badge during this time.
Eco Agents work with Mr Rixon to look after our school environment. They remind the rest of the school community about the kinds of behaviours that show we value our natural resources.
